THE HOUSE OF LÜBECK-ALTENBERG The House of Lübeck-Altenberg is a cadet branch of the House of Holzgerlingen, the ruling house of the Kingdom of Pruben and later the Holzer Empire. The house of Lübeck-Altenberg came into existence when King Francis II of Pruben granted his second son Fredrick the county of Lübeck. Fredrick was granted independence as a count under the protection of the Kingdom of Pruben. In 1864 the Great Holzer war happened with the Kingdom of Pruben declared war on the Kingdom of Norona the minor states of the Hozborg went to war either fighting with Pruben or Norona. When the war ended in 1865 with a victory to Pruben and her allies Count Fredrick I became a prince with the addition of the Principality of Ludenberg-Augustusburg (later changing the name to the Principality of Ludenberg in 1883). It wasn’t until 1955 when Princess Alexandria married Prince Henry of Altenberg (son of King William III of Altenberg) that the name of Altenberg was added to the house name. The House of Lübeck-Altenberg was granted many privileges when the Holzer Empire was formed due to the close family relations.
