“MONEY “ - this word is one of the world’s most important tasks.
The introduction of an Imperial monetary politic depends on the prevailing monetary standards. As long as money is a commodity - gold and/or silver coins - exchange parities are close to the relationship between the content of the coinage in circulation. Therefore few rules and no common institutions (central banks) are needed. This politic will be a monetary identity throughout the Holzer Reich and a great advantage for international/national trades.
Three metals of monetary usage - gold, silver and copper shall be used to mint the Imperial coins :
. Gold = reserved for payments in nation-to-nation dealings. . Silver = useful on citizen level, because gold is too rare for a common daily transactions. . Copper = used mainly as a medium for small exchanges.
If the Gold Standard System will be based on honest weights and measures, the purchasing power would remain constant, interest rates are stable and long-range planning is simplified - consequently = stock market gamblers are jobless.
The Imperial Treasury shall be charged to support business and regulate the state's finances; a metal-based currency, with FOUR THOUSAND THALER value fixed at ONE KILOGRAM of PURE GOLD.
The gold standard is not perfect; however, it is the most trustful monetary system.
--- --- --- --- ----
Now you shall plan carefully what you can do.

Honoured gentleman, Herr Juergen, I must first thank you for posting this most thought-provoking economic treatise. However, I must ask: who exactly are you? Are you a citizen of this great Empire of ours? Or a wandering traveller looking for a way to return home, inquisitive and helpful, you dole out nuggets of rich experience and wisdom to nations that take your fancy? I must know. Especially since you posted an interesting piece on the Empire's defence policy (here: holzerreich.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=w&action=display&thread=57) in my very own Ministry.
